Your cold email subject line plays a huge role in your open rate. And that’s because overwhelmingly, your leads will decide whether or not they want to open your cold email based on the subject line alone.

You can’t mess this part up.

Too many people make the mistake of doing whatever it takes to get the lead’s attention. What they end up with is a subject line that says something like…

No good.

You have to remember that when you cold email someone, you’re a stranger. And! You’re a stranger who is ultimately going to try to sell that person something. This puts you in a unique — and somewhat challenging — position. People don’t like strangers. People don’t like being sold to.

You’re a stranger trying to sell. Womp womp.

Fret not. People don’t find success with cold emailing because they’re lucky. It simply comes down to strategy. And that strategy starts with (drumroll) your subject line.

So, here’s what I’ve got for you.

60 Cold Email Subject Lines to Test in 2021

I’ve put together a list of 60 cold email subject lines that you can test out in your own campaigns. Now, I’m not going to go through the whole list in this blog, but I do want to point out some of them in particular, because if I don’t explain what I mean by them, then they might not totally make sense.

Watch this video first, for those explanations. (I’m serious! Watch this so you know what you’re doing!)

All set? Great. Now, grab the freebie with the complete list.

God, I love a good freebie.

There’s a reason why I’m giving you so many, and it’s because one of the best things that you can do — for your business as a whole — is TEST. You need to be a little bit of a scientist, a detective. You need to try different things and compare the results.

This is the only way you can truly know if what you’re doing is working or not.

What you might consider doing is sending, say, 10 emails with one subject line, the next 10 emails with the next subject line, and so on. Do them in batches. You need to use each subject line enough times to find any patterns.

You might find over time that the third subject line on this list works like a charm, whereas the fifth does not.

This is just one way to go about it, but the point is this: Give each subject line a chance to shine, monitor your progress and results, and adjust accordingly.

Finding Success with Cold Emailing

The subject line is the first step toward finding success with cold emailing.

… But then what comes next?…

If you want the email content to go along with it, meaning what people read when they open your cold email, you can copy my five proven cold email templates, plug in your own details, and send those to your leads. They’re the templates I’ve used to grow my agency to five figures a month in revenue, and they’re also what my students in Revenue Spark use.

Remember that because you’re reaching out to strangers (hence why it’s called “cold” emailing — you have no prior relationship with these leads), cold emailing is more of a numbers game. You’re going to have to reach out to more people in order to get results.

This isn’t necessarily a bad thing. But just keep that in mind. If you send two emails, don’t make progress, and quit, well… you’re a quitter. Keep going.

BUT! And this is a huge but… Quality is as important as quantity. Never, ever, ever sacrifice the quality of your emails for the sake of sending more. If you do this, you’ve gotten off track.

Alright, that’s it for now. Get to work! Try out these subject lines and let me know what you think.
